Too bad there isn't better filtering available on the DSPLOG command, like to
EXCLUDE certain message IDs. Is there an API available to read through the
system log, with the goal of being able to use F1 to get at second-level
message text?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have written an application that allows me to view only specified messages in
the history log. I pre-specify what I want to see based on job name, msg id,
completion status, user profile, or msg id prefix (cpf, cpd, cpi, etc).

Once I have listed the messages, I can look up the second-level text, work with
the msgid from the message file, or display the job that created the message
(if it is still on the system).

If anyone is interested in getting a copy of the source, let me know.
