Yes, I thought of that after I sent my original post. After glazing my eyes through page after page of useless information, I found the crash. It occurred on Monday, not on Friday last week! I never imagined there were so many FTP jobs running on our system! The only thing that caught my eye was the fact that system log reported about 30 files in QSYS & QUSRSYS were in use at the time of the abend. One of our user files was also in use at the time. But no messages reporting whether anything was damaged. Other than the device descriptions. Fortunately, the system appeared to be unused at the time of the crash, no one signed on, several batch FTP jobs running, etc. Someone else mentioned running RCLSTG. Would that show up in the system log if it had been run? Too bad there isn't better filtering available on the DSPLOG command, like to EXCLUDE certain message IDs. Is there an API available to read through the system log, with the goal of being able to use F1 to get at second-level message text? It was hooked up to the UPS, but the UPS was apparently switched to "bypass" mode. Someone's head may roll for this. (Not my decision.) Once it was brought back up, several of our device descriptions were lost, and auto-config had to be turned on briefly to get everything back up in a pinch. It raises the question for me: What else is damaged out there? The power outage occurred 5 days ago, and we've been running fine (as far as I know). What should I be looking for? For some reason, the *SYSOPR message queue was somehow cleared several hours ago, so I don't know how to look for problems that would have been identified in there. Any help is greatly appreciated.
