It's not really a "connection" that's relevant. View XML as a document, not 
a data path. You produce XML much as you might produce an export file. It's 
really the same concept. It's just that the document is self describing and 
can contain data element relationships in addition to data. The recipient 
can process that data, and include (related or not) data from other XML 
documents to construct views, aggregates and lots of other neat stuff.
