Cyndi,

I did a 500 to 720 on V4R3 a couple of years ago and it went fine. We added
more disk and new cards. I just followed the Risc-to-Risc upgrade roadmap and
all went fine. I was able to get it easily done in a weekend and we had 30 gig
on the 500 and went to 120 gig on the 720. The best part of the upgrade is the
reload of all the logical. OS/400 is so smart, it loads the largest logicals
first and makes smaller logicals subsets of the larger ones, if applicable.

The only gotcha I remember now, is we used a Exabyte Mammouth drive and HAD to
bring over the slower I/O controller to the new box, so it would work with that
drive. Later we upgraded the Mammouth drive to work with the faster controller.

HTH,

Jay

p.s. We did 2 full backups prior to the upgrade .... hint, hint, wink, wink.
