No, it's not a typo for SENDMAIL.  It's a utility I wrote for News/400 a couple of years ago to send e-mail from the AS/400 using the QtmmSendMail API.

Unless I miss my guess, it's a typo for SENDMAIL.  SENDMAIL is probably the
most-used e-mail delivery in the world, having been the de facto standard on
Unix since its inception.
