Try this;

FLDA is 5,0
FLDB is 7,0

Z-ADD 1234567 FLDB
Z-ADD FLDB FLDA

You just got a Arithmetic Overflow.

or

YMD MULT 100.0001 MDY

You (by design) have just gotten an Arithmetic Overflow.
(I hope you are using the above)

Each time this happens you are actually getting a machine error which
percolates up, till it reaches RPG which says to OS/400 basically
"Ah, Ya, OK I caused an error, but the programmer said (by using a z-add)
I don't care"

Only you had the above OS to RPG conversation 290,000 times in one run.

I truly believe that OS/400 has some AI in it that remembers the
programs/users
that cause it pain like the above and "Punishes" those Programs/users.

Well maybe not, but it seems that way.

"ArithmeticOverflow"
Decimal Overflow exceptions and what could be the reason for this
annormal high value?

TIA
