Just a guess, but they sounds like a custom wscst for that printer, or a funky printf set to 198. I assume you are using HPT for printing ??? If IBM changed any of the HPT objects that the printer uses, the results could be very funky. Look at the devd for that printer and see if it use HPT and/or a custom wscst.
