You did Neil, and I found it. When I run the trace on an inside ping, it works great, I see a single record for the ping: COMMUNICATIONS TRACE Title: PINGing inside 02/27/01 Record Data Record Controller Destination Source Number S/R Length Timer Name MAC Address MAC Address ------ --- ------ --------------- ---------- ------------ ------------ 9 S 33 22:47:19.74600 FFFFFFFFFFFF 0004AC3EB4FD Frame Type : ARP Src Addr: 10.1.1.60 D ARP Header : 00060800060400010004AC3EB4FD0A01013C000000 Data . . . . . : AB7A000096999481 A389 (Data truncated due to 5250 display, but you get the idea). When I do the exact same trace for pinging an address outside the subnet, I get no packets whatsoever - I get a CPF39B9, no trace records found. This machine just doesn't want to talk outside its net for any reason. I looked at system values, and nothing looks bad. To add insult to injury, all of IBM's AS/400 service sites are down, so I can't even access the forums. > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com > [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Neil Palmer > Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 7:33 PM > To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: RE: Grumble... > > > Thought I had already sent that in a reply a few days ago: > > Check out these commands: > STRCMNTRC > ENDCMNTRC > PRTCMNTRC > Play siwth several options on PRTCMNTRC, like FMTTCP & TCPIPADR. > > ...Neil > > > > > > "Joe Pluta" <joepluta@plutabrothers.com> > Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com > 2001/02/27 13:54 > Please respond to MIDRANGE-L > > > To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> > cc: > Subject: RE: Grumble... > > > > Have you tried running a communications trace on the line description? > > No, only because I don't know how to do it.
