Thankyou Neil for your prompt reply with examples of the code. Regarding QS36SRC & QS36PRC which I already had populated from before. Do they have to be named this for each TOLIB & when I mess up trying to restore more stuff, does this do any damage to what was already there? FROMLIBR or SAVELIBR on S/36 RSTS36LIBM on 400 (RSTS36LIBM will create the TOLIB if it doesn't exist, and the QS36PRC & QS36SRC files in it). Sample of RSTS36LIBM restoring from a physical file (created with FROMLIBR on S/36, then FTS to send to 400 - although you could use tape): RSTS36LIBM TOMBR(*ALL) TOLIB(TEST36) DEV(*PHYFILE) PHYFILE(QS36F/S36STUFF) ...Neil MacWheel99@aol.com Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 2001/02/27 10:41 Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com (AS400 & family discussion group) cc: Subject: My Mem36 Fogged Up Perhaps someone can clear some cobwebs from my mind. I did this a couple years ago but now I forget how. S/36 software source to tape 400 command to retrieve it preparation so it works right Management has decided we will move our V4R3 to V4R5 & let M36 die, and all users of final application on M36 in agreement with its death, so I am to move towards that. One thing, we have lots of old 36 programs ... occasionally some of them we decide to convert to 400 ... in all probability 90% will never be needed but I not know which 90%, so I now want to get 36 LIBR to tape & RSTS36 to 400. Except I forgotten how exactly. We have 400 library NS36CEN with Q36 files named similar to Old 36 programs that I converted a few years ago, so I know there is a process to do this, except I forgotten how & I cannot find my old notes. I did a save libraries to tape from 36 from old backup software I selected a small M36 library to try to walk through the process DP.XPERT (obviously misnamed now because the expertise has drained from my mind) which went to tape via // FROMLIBR ALL,LIBRARY,DP.XPERT,TC,4,SOFTWARE,DP.XPERT,,,LEAVE,SVATTR Then I tried various RSTS36* options & each try found 855 members & omitted them all for various reasons then I retried altering parameters & history repeated. I was trying to put it all into file QS36DPX which I did not create in advance, but kept getting CPF2C22 So could someond whose memory is not as fogged up as mine tell me "Al, you have to use SAVELIBR FROMLIBR whatever on the 36 with parameters ...... and you have to in advance setup QS36DPX* variants for RPG36 & other types of members then use RSTS36* whatever on 400 with parameters ....
