Al you looked good. Serious, knowledgeable, mature, ready for real
business. It should have been you walking through that business office
in the commercial, not that kid that looked like he rode in on his
skateboard.

I've changed my mind. I used to think IBM didn't know how to market.
That's not it, they're lousy at sales.

Syslog, Stardate: Today.

Put 3-year old in bed and kiss good night...

Race down to find the tape of Al's debut in VCR.

Rewind tape to start...

Fastforward through infomercial on excersize equiptment. Note to self:
I'ld rather look at these models than Al. Wonder if IBM can get them in
the .com show.

Fastforward through hair replacement infomercial. Decide that balding is
still beautiful. Note that there aren't any nice looking girls on
bicycles in show.

Wade through the infomercial disclaimers.

.COM starts. Note to self: in spare time, determine who looks older, Yoda
or Mark Hammel... Also note that nobody is using a IBM Thinkpad in the
main set. Sony gets prominent airplay...

Doze through lead in stories. Wakeup with a jolt at view of Series/1. At
the worry of recurrent IPX nightmares, stay awake. Confused as to why all
those people are smiling in a IRS piece. Conclude they are either stoned
or getting refunds. Replay frams to view address on check being written
to IRS>

Iseries piece finally arrives. Wonder who the gal in the white turtleneck
is. IBM'ers appear to be poor script readers. ABSOLUTELY STUNNED that
ONCE AGAIN, IBM (Buell) leads in with promoting M$ products over OS/400.
Specifically mentioning NT and Eunochs, but NOTHING about OS/400. Note to
self: Consult tarot cards as to reason why IBM insists on promoting
(expletives deleted) M$ products and ignores their own SUPERIOR stuff.
Replay frames to see if someone left QSECOFR password floating around on a
screen...:)

AL! NICE TIE! :) Why did you say "redundant" systems??? We do a great
job with just one...:)

Screen fades back to girl in white turtleneck, segment ends and Yoda
returns.

I flip off VCR wondering howmuch IBM paid for that infomercial...:) AND,
why they didn't do a 60-second spot on the Raven Bowl instead...:)

Popcorn bowl empty...pwrdwnsys...

Don inDC...:)
