Title: RE: Java is now dead

MS indeed killed Java – they killed their own Java.

One of microsofts (mission?) statements in 1999 was to kill the cross platform language - Java.....

Not flocking?    What was expected?  My goodness Java has been on the
radar for just 6 years and there is lots of it out there.  Java is a
career choice, not some casual decision about what to do on Saturday
    afternoon.

It is my opinion that Java has a good chance of being in this for the long
haul because the Microsoft fans are going to get tired of sudden changes,
product withdrawals, aborted paradigms, and $4,000 Certification courses
that have no value a few years hence.  As time goes by managers will get
tired of the hamster wheel known as The Microsoft Solution and Java will
look like an old and trusted friend.

I don't disagree, but, Hans, would you elaborate
on some of these other reasons?
