Avi, All over. Oracle is makeing major inroads into the 400 base...and as we told IBM years ago would happen, new folks are either coming into companies with 400's or taking over companies with 400's...and the newbie's don't know what a 400 is BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE EXPOSURE TO IT IN SCHOOL. To hear the new bosses say something like "I KNOW what Oracle is, but haven't a clue what a 400 is, ergo 400 HAS to be dead technology" is commonplace. I had lunch last week with the MIS Director of a major group in DC metro that does alot of gov't contracting worldwide....when they go to bid a contract, the gov't boys are telling them the same thing: they know what NT and Oracle are (hell IBM's been marketing NT and Oracle for YEARS!), but they have NO idea what a AS/400 is, ergo no 400 sales. Also, you're seeing the major software houses cranking out the NON-400 versions of their releases BEFORE the 400 versions of their releases...tell you something?? I've got a company in DC that will probably have to goto a non-400 platform because the functionality they need in a vendors package is ready in the non-400 version, but won't be in the 400 version for a while.... Yeah, I'm pissed, but frankly, I've given up on IBM's marketing even showing up at the party...and I refuse to do IBM's job for them... and I could go on and on and just shock the (socks) off of you and really pissof a few folks...but I'm too nice of a guy, besides, it's Super Bowl Sunday and Baltimore is gonna win...:) BUT, try talking with the user group's BOD's accross the US and the major education providors as well...the story ain't pretty...
