RE: Does Netserver do this???

So I need Operations Navigator to configure Netserver?  How do I install Ops
Nav?  I.e., is there a CD-ROM?  Is it on the CA disk?  What if you don't order
CA for your system?  Will you still get the CD-ROM?

On the AS400 you need to configure and start NetServer.  You will be
defining shares much like you do on Wintel boxes.  You can also setup public
access and a guest profile for people that do not have signons to your
AS400.  Netserver uses the same UserID/Password that you use to logon to the
PC.  If they match the AS400 signon, no second signon window.  If the user
ids are the same and not the password, you will be prompt for the password,
not user id.  If there is no match and a guest profile is setup, it will use
the guest profile with no logon window.

By the way, to configure Netserver you use Ops Nav, Network, Servers,
TCP/IP.  You can define shares there or from the file system.  Object
security for shares is handled under the file system, not Netserver.

We've got a v4r4 system and want to be able to map AS/400 folders to a Win9x
PC (so we can access them via a separate drive letter in Windows Explorer).
My only experience to do this is to install Client Access.  But we don't
wish
to do that in this situation.  I believe I've heard that Netserver has this
function, and that it is included as part of the OS in v4r4.

If true, how does one set up a PC to do this?  Is it similar to how I would
do
it with CA installed?  I.e., open Windows Explorer, choose Map a network
drive
under the Tools tab?  How does one make the PC "see" the AS/400?

What if there are multiple AS/400s you want to access?  Any additional
considerations?

Is there still a user signon/password required?
