Greetings, all. It's been awhile since I've done tape file processing, so I have a few "please help me with my memory". Naturally, the IBM online manuals didn't help. Both OVRTAPF and CPYFRMTAP can use such parameters as the device, tape reels (label type & number of reels), record length, block length and block format. My questions are: 1. If I am using an unmodified system-supplied tape file such as QTAPE or QSYSTAP is it necessary to do an OVRTAPF prior to a CPYFRMTAP? 2. If I don't specify OVRTAPF will CPYFRMTAP work if I specify parameters that do not match the values defined in the tape file? 3. If I must specify OVRTAPF it is a safe assumption that all of the *TAPF defaults in CPYFRMTAP will utilize the overrides, also assuming the override scopes are set correctly? I don't have a tape in the system right now to try this with, otherwise I'd be doing the research myself. Thanks in advance!
