In what >case(s) would an error be generated? mark, it's possible to get an error closing a file, but it would be a system error, not an error determined by the RPG compiler. For example, say you have an invalid date in one of the blocked output records. The system won't find out about it until the file is closed. I'm sure there are lots of things that can cause a CLOSE to file; especially DDM files or files under commitment control.
