Hi Rob - >I have a question. Why would he now need a firewall at his >home versus when he had a modem connection? Or should he >have had one then? If that is the case should anyone who >hooks up to the internet; personal or business, modem or >otherwise, have a firewall? *** Sorry about the message with the above quote and nothing else. I hate Outlook!!! *** What I was trying to say before I was so rudely interrupted was that I think everyone who has any kind of Internet connection, even just dialup, should have at some kind of firewall. If nothing else, at least the free version of the Zone Alarm firewall that John mentioned. Do also check out the grc.com website that he mentioned. Even with a dialup connection that is limited time and a different IP address every time, you will still get with random attacks. Personally, having gotten a cable modem connection, I just shelled out $500 for a Sonicwall SOHO2 hardware firewall to use in addition to my software firewall.
