Re: CICS for the AS/400

Is it a fair assumption that every time you keyboarded CICS you meant CISC as
opposed to RISC?  Or is CICS a valid acronym for something unrelated to CISC?

I believe that CISC is either no longer supported by IBM or the last V#R#
that ran it soon will be dropped.
V4R4 is RISC & all OS/4 versions have been RISC for several years.

In theory if the original source code can be re-compiled with observables,
then the first time it is actually executed, on the RISC box, it will be
converted from CISC to RISC, or you can do the whole thing in a long restore.
 If you cannot get at the source or cannot get it with observables, then you
might not be able to run the CISC code on a RISC box.  You might check the
archives.  There are many other nuances I not understand.

However, since your software is coming to 400 from another box it will
probably have to go through some kind of source conversion anyway & with
access to the source you should have no problems.
