I vote for March 2nd, 2001! I would hope that your systems "date format" would be handling this issue. (i.e.: should something typed in be seen as dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy or other...) -----Original Message----- From: mandy.shaw@uk.catalyst-solutions.com [mailto:mandy.shaw@uk.catalyst-solutions.com] Sent: Monday, December 04, 2000 9:07 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Y2K heads up - is this trouble??? To me, 03/02/01 represents 3rd Feb 2001 ... this one has been going on a long time - it's not just a Y2K issue! "Stone, Joel" <StoneJ@GourmetAward.com> on 12/04/2000 03:40:11 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To: "'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com'" <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: (bcc: Mandy Shaw/Pacific/UK) Subject: Y2K heads up - is this trouble??? I was expecting a scare in the news about y2k fears next year, but haven't noticed anything. Maybe because of the presidential mess, everyone is watching something else! During year 2000, it was implicit in every date which digits represented the year. 01/02/00 was obviously January 2, 2000. 00/06/03 was obviously June 3, 2000. Next year it will not be so obvious! What is 03/02/01? March 2nd, 2001? Or February 1st, 2003??? What is 01/02/01? January 2, 2001? Or February 1st, 2001??? When a clerk keys in an order date or ship date (or blood expiration date!!), I hope they know where the year should go!!! Just something to ponder!!! Has anyone seen this in the press??? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- Regards, Mandy Shaw Catalyst Solutions plc Kingfisher House Frimley Business Park Camberley Surrey GU16 5SG UK http://www.catalyst-solutions.com Email: Mandy.Shaw@uk.catalyst-solutions.com Telephone: +44 (0)870 166 1000 DDI: +44 870 166 1324 Facsimile: +44 870 168 3920 Mobile: +44 410 447966 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Catalyst Solutions plc.
