Here's from the "Help" command:

QUOTE (Send a Command to an FTP Server)

To send a subcommand directly to the FTP server on the remote
system, use the QUOTE subcommand. The string is sent verbatim to
    the FTP server.

    QUOte string

QUOte You can abbreviate subcommands to the most unique series
                of characters.

string The subcommand and arguments that you want sent to and
interpreted by the remote FTP server.

    Notes:
      1. The AS/400 FTP server limits the string to 1000 characters.

      2. For the QUOTE subcommand, whatever you enter is passed as the
argument. For example, if you type:

                 QUOTE CWD 'SYS1'

          The resulting argument is:

                 CWD 'SYS1'

Special server commands exist and must be entered using the QUOTE
    subcommand.
--------------------------
To see the help commands, type "FTP 'LOOPBACK' on a command line. Give
your as/400 login and password so you're logged in, and type "Help" on the
FTP command line.

I just tried that and AS400 FTP doesn't recognize RCMD as a sub-command
either. When I took help from within FTP I couldn't see RCMD in the list
of sub-commands either. Is there something I'm missing?

Use RCMD FTP subcommand (i.e. Remote CoMmanD)
e.g.
RCMD CRTSAVF XYZ/ABC
or whatever. This runs the relevant command on your FTP target box.
You can do this from a PC FTP client too if you use the form
quote site rcmd ...
Extremely useful in my experience (e.g. in ftp batch scripts).

I've seen that AS400 FTP allows a limited number of FTP sub-commands to
run
on the remote AS400 (ADDM, DLTF etc). I was wondering if there was a way
of
running other AS400 commands on the remote server.
For instance, I want to transfer a Save file to machine x. Is there some
way
of running the RSTOBJ command to unpack he save file, without me having to
sign on to machine x to issue the command?
TIA
