  • Subject: V3R7 to V4R5 Data Sharing

We have a client V3R7 on a 500. No SW Subscription and a cost of
something like $58k to get current. This 500 and it's function will most
likely go away in a year or so.

They are buying a new 820 and will need to #1 migrate a large amount
(30+gb) of data and programs to the new 820. Once the 820 is up then maybe
250-500mb of data will need to be transferred daily both ways.

I know the official line is 4.5 won't support below 4.2 or 4.3 I forget. I
know we can't use save files to go 4.5 to 3.7. So here are some questions

#1 Will 4.5 read save tapes from 3.7?
#2 Will 4.5 read SaveFiles from 3.7?

#3 If a PF is created and populated on 3.7 on the 500 and the file is
created and empty on 4.5 on the 820, can we FTP that file to the 820?
#4 How about #3 above but create on 4.5 and ftp to 3.7?

#5 Can we get DDM to work between these 2 systems or are they too far
apart OS wise?

#6 Other options?
