I have come across shops that, oddly enough, view SQL as "dangerous" and
therefore do not allow it's use.

That is not the issue. The issue is Native RPG (and COBOL) access should be
maintained! I have coded SQL RPG also and there are times when it has made
my life easier, but I have many clients that object to the use of SQLRPG.
THE CLIENT IS ALWAYS RIGHT!

Gee, I code RPG, I've used SQL in my RPG.  I didn't have a gun pointed to
my head telling me to do so.
