The story I'd heard was that these few AS/400s were being used in a 
distribution function, I believe in Ireland?  The stories I've heard have 
three common elements.  one element was that this is a small part of the 
operation and is essentially a research activity to keep an eye on the 
capabilities of the competition and to establish goals and benchmarks for 
their own servers.  The second element that I've heard is that these 
machines were taken out of service and replaced with Microsoft solutions, 
and then because of costs the whole operation was farmed out to a firm 
that happens to use AS/400s.  The third element was that the whole story, 
while true several years ago, is no longer valid.

As you can see, this whole thing is taking on many shades and versions 
typical of any really spiffy Urban Legend.
