Neil:

Depending on where the 6512 is installed, it may not support 16 drives.

"On the 9406 Model 720 with the #9364/#5064 System Unit Expansion and the
#9331 Expansion Unit for SPD Cards, the #6512 supports up to 15 disk units
within the System Unit Expansion."

Dare has said that he doesn't know about a 5052.

I am very certain that Dare won't be able to migrate his data as he
described in his note earlier today. Let's assume that the 6512 is not in a
system expansion unit and therefore it will support 16 drives. The IOP has
10 drives on it now therefore, there are connectors available for 6 more
drives. He cannot respread the data from drives 9 and/or 10 then remove
drive 9 or drive 10, there isn't room on drives 1 through 8 to hold the
respread data - unless he turns off mirroring for unit 1 and 1A and RAID for
drives 1 through 10. Therefore, he cannot attach all 7 of his 8 gb drives
in one go. He can attach 6 of them (as drives 11 through 16), then disable
drives 9 and 10 (and wait for the data to migrate off to drives 11 through
16), then remove 9 and 10 from the 6512 and attach them to the MFIOP and add
drive 7 of his 8gb drives to the 6512. That is a 2-step process. I hope
that is what he is expecting.

-|My 2 cents worth. You should add an 8th disk to that new RAID set (you
-|have 7 x 8.58GB planned), that way the parity
-|striping will be spread across all 8 disks instead of just the first 4,
-|which will the have higher utilization than the rest.
