I was working on a Sun Unix system and the console locked. I went over to a terminal and telnetted to the Sun but I couldn't signon as the superuser so I launched WS_FTP and xferred the password file to the PC. I edited this file with wordpad and, ignoring the gunk, removed the # that commented the line that disallowed me to logon as superuser from a terminal that was not the console. Then I FTPed this file back to the Sun, launched telnet, logged on as the superuser (whew!), and cancelled the frozen job which freeed up the console. And I'm not even a unix geek --- but I'm dangerous.
