Cyndi,

If the data resides on another AS/400 there are much easier and more secure
ways to get the data to the webserver. You can use DDM to connect to the
other AS/400 and access the data. You just have to create the physical file
stubs on the web serving AS/400 and have it point to the other machines
database. The e-rpg program would use the file just like it was on the
local AS/400. Also, you can attach the two AS/400's with SNA which would
prevent anyone from breaking in and corrupting your production AS/400's
data.

All,

I have been asked to help out on a project. A friend has an AS/400 to use
as a web-server. He has Brad Stone's book on e-rpg and plans on using that
as a model. However, the data resides on a separate AS/400. I am using
sockets as the communications method for my web site living on an NT box.
Can I create a server program on his production box and put the client code
into the e-rpg program on the web server ? Is this the best method for
connecting the two boxes ? Or is DDM better ?

Please give us some ideas and places to go and look.

Thanks,

Cyndi Bradberry
