Well, when I compare my out of pocket expenses of attending COMMON and attending Midrange-L, guess how it works out. I certainly hope Dave G. is able to make this economically attractive from his end as well, but that is not my focus. If IBM wanted to foot the entire bill for COMMON as well as pay the air fare and accommodations, etc. of all attendees, then I would say that COMMON is free ... it's a matter of perspective. As far as new ideas and networking ... I see that it is here .. within established protocols. I know about Al Barsa's connection to TAATOOLS, Brad Stone's Book, Leif's e-book, and much more all from here. When I want to pursue something with someone I take the conversation private ... and it works quite nicely. Education is a constant process ... I can't take a week from customer's and family ... instead I try and push the envelope a little more each day. Works for me ! I don't mean to denigrate COMMON or those seeking to put it to good use. However, it was created 40 years ago to meet needs that otherwise could not reasonably be met. Things have changed. Time for a re-design. -DaveK ----- Original Message ----- From: Eric Kempter <NOERICK.NORCAL@CLEANCITY.COM> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Friday, September 01, 2000 11:29 AM Subject: RE: The relevance of COMMON (was Penton to buy Duke - News400 magazine) > This user group is NOT free.
