We have a transaction server at a remote site that just sits there and runs,
like the bunny ;-). When it was a model 200, CICS, it went well over a year
with an IPL or any temporary space growth. It was at 3.2 Slightly under a
year ago we upgraded to a 170. The only IPL was due to power failure that
lasted longer than the UPS. When power was restore, it came up, started all
the jobs. Contacted our main location and started syncing the data base.
All with little intervention from anyone. It has not missed a beat since
although we have loaded cumes and ptf all waiting for the next IPL. Its at
4.4

In short, today there is no need.

Is there anyone reading the midrange list that can contribute a story about
not IPLing for a couple of years? Does anyone have a horror story about
being forced to IPL daily?
