Thank you for expressing my idea rather better than I did.  You may be right 
that it will
never happen, but if we don't try, we will never know.  If we don't try to 
persuade IBM
senior management NOW that the jewel in their product crown is the AS/400, and 
the AS/400
is eventually junked  (with or without a name change), and we are without a job 
or working
on systems that give us no job satisfaction, we might then regret, too late, 
that we did
nothing.

My impression from reading the posts to this and other lists is that there are 
a large
number of AS/400 bigots out there who really believe that they have a just 
cause.  Do they
wish to stand up and be counted or are they just windbags, fond of the sound of 
their own
voices?

If they are not windbags, then they should post their views in this thread 
(and, as Brad
McDaniel suggested, stick to the point)  If they are, then hopefully, on this 
occasion at
least, they will keep quiet and not fill up this thread with junk mail.
