  • Subject: IBM.COM's ISP melt down
  • From: MacWheel99@xxxxxxx

This is exactly what I was talking about in a recent posting on computer
infrastructure training in the http://www.j2mediagroup.com/ProgramOutline.htm
e-commerce curriculum, where I suggested a simulation of stuff that goes
wrong where top managers are usually clueless, making business decisions that
compound their cluelessness, & have a wall clock with 10 minute markings
changed to 1,000 customers confidence lost if you not figure this out &
resolve it real fast, with the lesson of the class regarding investment
needed to minimize how often you get into this kind of mess.

I correspond with these 2 IBM people all the time, although one more often
than the other, who work out of totally different offices. For both of them
to lose IBM job or stop want talk to me at same time is unbelievable.

What is believeable to me is that the IBM.COM ISP had a melt down, because
some dingbat at IBM HQ is not using their most reliable server & we all know
what that is, but IBM HQ does not because they cannot play politics across
divisions. In the course of this melt down, the ISP e-mail server has lost
connection with its directory of valid users, so all e-mail becomes an
invalid address.
