This is a kludge but have you considered borrowing another 400. Transfer your existing setup to that at V4R4 and then upgrade that to V4R5. BTW I think is is not reasonable to require you to upgrade on a Revision R4 - R5 to migrate the system. It would be more reasonable to require that you be on the same version V4.x to V4.5. I believe this has been the norm in the past. On the other hand IBM is now trying to move the AS400 as fast as possible so they may have viewed this as a reasonable time/cost cutting measure.
