You had to do it if you bought a Model 3xx and were upgrading from a
B/C/D/E/F Model on Version 2.x.  You had to upgrade to 3.05 before moving
over.

But, aside from that, if it says in the roadmap you have to do it, you
probably do.  And you should not blame IBM unless you had to do it -- and
they didn't tell you in the documentation.
