Folks, Frankly, there's too many old systems out there for it to go away tomarrow or even next year. The momentum factor just says it ain't gonna happen... And, IBM and us consultants are gonna make some bucks doing conversions...:) If you'll recall, Gerstner back in 9x called for ONE hardware line that had the o/s and software loaded at the end of the assembly line...whereas now at the hardware line if it's a 400 it get painted one way, a weinie box gets painted another.... Perhaps this rebranding and lack of product awareness we've seen historically is part of their big picture... And, yes, IBM's done some stupid things in the past, but I don't see them forcing cold turkey dumping of old/current stuff without some kind of migration path...ala S/38, et al... Common: They've transitioned before, they will again...it's a management issue...I just found it interesting that a AS/400 user group didn't mention the AS/400 on their webber.... Jeff, you may want to have Lansa put something like "powered by AS400" on the webber...me thinks it used to be there in a past itteration...also, it might be nice to kinda define what kind of a "user group" Common is so that someone that's not been around since SSP knows...:) Don't read more into that statement than is there...:) Jeff, I never intended to rattle your cage...
