At present we can run NT on Ethernet connected to AS/400 in which OS/400 is the boss & individual operating systems can be started & stopped, so that with the current architecture you reboot NT from within OS/400 which does not need any restart just because of ideosyncracies of guest OS on same box. We are on a V#R# that still supports M/36 & although the S/36 date is same as OS/400 date, some software used to require re-IPL of S/36 each day ... well we CAN reboot M/36 each day & it makes no difference to OS/400 which is not rebooted.
