Thanks for the info.  I think you're on the right track.  I'm gonna do some checking to see if I can find some such converter device.

Assuming the monitor does not have a VGA input (which of course would
make it simple). You'd need to get a device that converts the VGA signal
to a composite video or s-video (preffered) or a predefined TV channel
(usually channel 3 or 4). In either case you will lose quite a bit of
resolution but it might look OK from several feet away.  A TV signal
(assuming this is NOT an HDTV) only has 540(if I recall correctly)
horizontal lines of resolution and only refreshes half of those each
pass (interleaving) and does 60 passes per second.  You can see that
even base VGA (640 by 480) has more resolution than that.   You may find
such a device at Radio Shack or at a place that sells/rents AV
equipment.
