Does the router on their end allow port 21??? We block all ports except telnet. -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Dan Rasch Sent: Thursday, July 27, 2000 11:09 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Error when commecting via FTP I am trying to connect to a client site, to FTP some files we need for development, but no cigar. We have a session that connects and works fine using the IP address, but when I issue: FTP RMTSYS(*INTNETADR) INTNETADR('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx') I get these two messages: Connecting to remote host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx using port 21. Cannot connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx at address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Try again later. (the second message displays after a timeout of a few minutes). There is no secondary help. Is there a big difference between requesting a session and getting an FTP connection? What else may be wrong? TIA, Dan Rasch - because if the human species concentrated on the really important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishing poles! +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
