Is this how you evaluate all software? > If so, why? > > ... Chuck You didnt address it to me but I can see several reasons for not getting it out of the box. However, one reason is sufficient for me. It requires Windows. I dont think that Windows should be a pre-requisite for programming on the AS/400. CODE/400 has some good things like a programmable language syntax checker. But if IBM added that to SEU - then 'the community' can keep SEU uptodate with new languages - if 'the community' can see the benefit of doing so. Disclaimer: Im not bashing windows - I find it indispensable until I can move everything to Linux. I just dont want to be tied to windows in order to program on the AS400. (Isnt the _point_ of programming in Java that it's platform-independent?) PS I dont think that Windows should be a pre-requisite for programming on the AS/400. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
