Backup and Recovery -- MIDRANGE-L

We are currently looking into new backup and recovery software for our AS/400. We have an in-house application presently but are looking to discontinue its use. We run nightly backups of libraries, user profiles, etc... Our current application will create a save file/library in the event of a tape failure. We can then copy that saved data to tape the next morning so we don't lose the previous day's backup. Does anyone know of a solution that will allow the backup to still run in the event of tape failure. This is not something IBM's software will do, but it is very crucial in any backup situation (hint, hint).
