Depending on your proxy, you may not need socks.  I saw Winproxy had an FTP
proxy.  To ftp to ftp.site.com, you would ftp to your proxy, when prompted
for user you would enter username#ftp.site.com.  That made it nice since any
FTP program or scripts work and only the user name needed changing.
