Apart from the other suggestions (all good) that you have received another 
possibility to check out is the parameter on the line description that 
indicates "ethernet only". I'm at home and don't remember which one it is 
(ETHONLY ??).

I seem to remember hunting through one of the manuals and it mentioned that 
setting this parameter enhanced performance as the system did not need make 
provision for SNA or other protocols. This may have been in a printing red 
book.

I don't recall the specifics, but it's definitely worth a look. If no-one 
else sheds any light on this I may try and find the reference today at work 
so I can post the details if required.
