I don't get your point Hans, what you are talking about is sloppy programming not security holes. There are something like a million web sites where you can find a browser detection script and once you detect the browser you can tailor the script to the browser. Just look at the nonsense useful commerce sites like Amazon.com do with java script and cookies, sure there are holes but that never stopped anyone from using Office 9x. If ya don't want to give out the info then don't that way you can browse in peace and the most they can get is your screen width or browser preference. <script language = "JavaScript"> <!-- hide // initialize the value of "browser" var browser = "oldAndInTheWay"; var bName = navigator.appName; var bVersion = parseInt(navigator.appVersion); // check for Netscape if (bName == "Netscape") { browser = "ns" + bVersion; } else { // check for MSIE if (bName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") { if (bVersion >= 4) { browser = "ie" + bVersion; } else { browser = "ie3"; } } } // --> </script> +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
