I have used (Synon) Cool:2E on and off since 1988. I like it because I can create programs that work in a short period of time. Are there things about it I would change, yes there are. If I write a program without Cool:2E do I write it like Cool:2E would generate it, no I do not. I had hoped it would of been improved more then it has by now. Cool:2E also does the data base and working with it out side of Cool:2E is not as easy as a data base that was created without Cool:2E. I used to say it was well worth the money, but now that the money would be coming out of my pocket, I do not have it on my AS/400. But if you have enough new programs to write or rewrite and know its limitations it is worth taking a look at. I have also used AS/Set a little it was easier to learn, it looked more like RPG. I believe that programmers not wanting to learn case tools hurt the case tools more then anything. I would like to know how many companies bought a case tool and quit using it and why?
