We ended up being able to squeeze the report down enough so that the last field starts in column 255, so we are ok until the users ask "by the way, can you just add this to the end of the report?", so we will probably be looking at this again next week! As far as the suggestion by Mark and Joe goes, using a long text field and building it in the program, I guess if I would go that route, I would tend to do the whole line that way rather than just the tail end. I have actually considered this technique for use in a generic file maintenance subfile handling program. But for the report, I would leave it up to the programmer to see if she would prefer this or use O-specs instead. Thanks!
