Just a thought; since you can start the field at 255, just create a field at that point that is aplha; in your program (RPG, ILE would be easier), format your data the way you want it to look; ie: Eval %SUBST(pfield:1:4) = %Trim(%EditW(cust#:' 0 ')) Eval %SUBST(pfield:6:16) = %SUBST(name:1:16) with pfield being your DDS name with a length of 21 *char - Does this help any??? Mark A. Manske [mailto:mmanske@minter-weisman.com] Sr. Project Lead Minter-Weisman -----Original Message----- Hi all, This is similiar to a RLU question posted yesterday, but didn't see an answer to it specifically, so here is my problem: We are trying to create a very wide report, 275 characters (20 CPI, legal size paper), but DDS cannot start a field past column 255. It can print past 255 as long as the field starts before 255. Does anyone know of a work-around on this? The only thing I can think of is using a internally defined printer file which wouldn't be the worse thing, just wondering if there is an alternative. TIA!
