John,

You really don't want to rattle my cage on this...:)

There is NO DOUBT this is stupidity personified. Also, there is NO DOUBT
that IBM is going to shove it right up our... And, NO DOUBT that there's
nothing you can do about it.

Frankly, I don't have a problem with a GUI interface, but it needs to keep
same functionality with command line. It's just SOOOO MUCH EASIER TO USE
A COMMAND!

Perhaps this is a opportunity for folks like Sloan to add functionality to
commands. Go ahead and spend all the time writing simple useful commands
that do all the coding to the API's...Al, Jim, You listening? :)

What you should be getting ready for is Windows running native on the 400.
It can't be that far away now. The IBM'ers doing the V4R5 presentation in
DC hinted at it HEAVILY, so I'm not worrying about talking about it in a
public forum. John, you should take a pilgrimage up from The Boulders and
visit some of these things...:)

Well, IBM lost the PC, the desktop, the server and probably soon the
midrange... EVENTUALLY someone like Compaq or Dell will come up with a
AS/400 clone, but that won't happen until the volume number justify the
R&D.

One day, they'll realize why people don't want to buy IBM just because
it's IBM....that will be the sad day when IBM ** FINALLY ** realizes that
they've shot themselves in the foot too many times to be able to walk
again.
