We've had similar problems in the past. In one case, it turned out to be a
faulty workstation controller card in the 494e. In the other case, it was a
faulty NIC in the same unit. If you haven't already, I would recommend that
you run a diagnostic on the Perle.

You should be seeing something in the QSYSOPR msg queue or the problem log
(WRKPRB) that will provide further clues.
