I think QYPSSRV is the server for operations navigator Management Central.

Updates files in QUSRSYS under commitment control.

You could omit QUSRSYS from your daily Backup Schedule or stop Management
Central from Operations navigator or stop the qypssrv by issuing 
Call QYPSENDS.
After the  checkpoint is reached you can start the server with call
qypsstrs.(V4R3 !)

We Use SAVE-WHILE-ACTIVE for a Daily backup of a large Data-Base with option
*SYNCLIB but we stop Applicationsy for a few minutes to allow checkpoint
processing to complete.
