RANT(*ON) This subject makes me sick to my stomach! Who's running the country anyway, communists? Where have all the red blooded Americans gone (over seas?)? There are WAY too many special programs being given away to illegal immigrants. My grandparents were born in this country, which makes me 3rd generation American, right? Yet I have to pay through the nose to send my kids to collage, and I've been hearing stories about all these illegals flooding into our country (since 1992, I think) and they get special treatment and don't even have to pay for collage. Am I full of it? Has anyone else heard different? What was the point of all those young American G.I.'s (who incidentally also grew up during the depression of 1929) who stormed the beaches of Normandy, being picked off by the German's? So our generation of 'me, me, me, I want it now' can give everything away to all of these foreign countries? Makes me want to move to Canada. However, what I'm wondering is why haven't these companies exported the jobs off-shore instead of asking for H1B visas? It seems to me that the same Internet technology that's playing havoc with the copyright laws can also play havoc with the traditional labor structure? A colleage of mine is currently on vacation in the Phillipines. Although he cannot find a postcard where he is, he found a dinky little place called "Perfect Byte", an Internet Cafe and sent us an e-mail. What's to prevent a company from setting up an off-shore site with a couple of servers and a vpn connection and having the work done there? > Guy Murphy - murphyfa@uiuc.edu > FACTS system - University of Illinois > 217-333-8670 > http://www.heisercoaching.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
