Jerome and others, I did received this error way back, but I configured the file DSN (via Client Access) to point to several AS/400 actual database file, doing the queries in the Access database. I have both Access 97 and Access 2000 on my machine. In 97, I can view the data w/no problem, but I did receive your error when I try to view in 2000. I create queries w/in my Access 2000 database based on those AS/400 files and it works fine (run the query and return data and store data in a temporary tables which I create in an Access 2000 database). In short, try to run the query to get those data instead of trying to see the link file in datasheet view when you work with Access 2000.
