Ahh--one of my favorite rants. Is programming a profession or a trade?

I stand foursquare for trade. Of course I think law, engineering,
medicine,... are all trades too. A good machinist, cabinet maker, mechanic,
or whatever knows a lot and is very good at problem solving.

A doctor is a mechanic with an advanced degree.

Creativity exists in every department of a company. If you think you're
special and have ideas of commercial value then go ahead, take your balls in
your hand and go out
on your own. Next we'll be calling ourselves "artistes"...wow.
