Upgrade of 95 to 98 does not always update everything.  Reformat and install
new 98 seems to work better.  IE 4.0 / 5.0 updates the TCP/IP stack and can
be the piece of the puzzle that causes the problem.  Try updating on of the
failing 95 PCs to IE 5.0 and see if that fixes the problem.  I bet it does.

Have opened a call with IBM with no resolution. Verified no port problems,
connection is via dial up through a RAS into the domain. Client PC is able
to Ping the AS400, but unable to telnet either.

Question:       What in the standard PC software could be causing the
winsock error and only on certain machines?
